While The Spatulas were harvested from- and share direct linkage with- the same Oregonian soil that also produced bands such as the Blimp, Lavender Flu, and Mordecai, they are firmly channeling their own unique psych stun pop excellence. A glorious mesh of scrabble and jangle in a world where the DIY Barrettoid bedroom ache of Beyond the Implode meets the dark pop damage of World of Pooh-era Barbara Manning in a tambourine-shaking hypnosis and single notes swirl and swarm underneath the crisp strum of Miranda Spatula. "Program repeats on both sides", as we used to say, so when you're finished with one side it's easy enough to experience it all again. Which you will be lucky to do!
